These universities, including McNeese State University, are located within Lake Charles, with Louisiana State University at Eunice approximately one hour away. The region also includes opportunities for convenient distance learning at Duplichain University, an international university offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees focused on distance learning.
Vocational training opportunities in Southwest Louisiana range from 18-month degree programs to 12-week certification programs. SOWELA Technical Community College and Delta School of Business and Technology represent two vocational schools in the region that cater to students seeking a combination of classroom education and on-the-job training. These institutions offer training in over 35 fields as well as an Occupational Studies program.
As one of the nation’s twenty largest public higher education systems, the University of Louisiana includes nine distinct campuses across the state. McNeese State University represents Southwest Louisiana’s campus – awarding degrees in over 70 areas of study.
