A Look into History Aboard USS Orleck

View All Kids Activities

After serving the U.S. during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the military decommissioned the USS Orleck, and it became a naval museum. Today, the USS Orleck is docked in Lake Charles, offering a unique and educational glimpse into the naval history of the vessel and life at sea. Aboard the ship, adults and children can explore artifacts and exhibits, as well as a special memorial for armed services members.

In addition, programming for children brings an added twist on a naval ship — laser tag. The Orleck features a multi-level laser tag arena and allows guests to rent it out for private parties. Fog machines and a variety of lighting add to the atmosphere, and participating players don dog tags upon entry. Children can also enjoy a Halloween visit in October, when the ship is transformed into a haunted vessel.
