Lake Charles’ inland beaches provide residents with options for swimming, boating and enjoying Southwest Louisiana’s sunshine and mild year-round climate.

The city’s best-known beach is North Beach near downtown, where white sand and blue water attract swimmers, strollers and beach volleyball buffs. North Beach overlooks Lake Charles and includes a boat ramp and popular spots for swimming and diving.

South Beach, commonly referred to as LaFleur Beach, features a scenic, seaside park with sandy beaches and paved promenades for walking and enjoying the view. Holly Beach, in nearby Cameron, is a popular destination for birders, shell collectors and fishermen.

In addition, Lake Charles is an ideal launch point for a trip along the 26-mile Creole Nature Trail that leads past Gulf Coast beaches and seashore habitats that include marshes and meandering rivers and streams.
