The Cajun Music Festival in Lake Charles, an annual gathering held every July, celebrates Southwest Louisiana’s unique Cajun music heritage. Regional bands play authentic roots music over the two-day event, which is organized each year by the Cajun French Music Association.

Patrons dance the Cajun two-step on the floor of the coliseum before a large stage, while musicians play traditional accordions, fiddles and triangles. The Cajun Music Festival is family-friendly and held at the Burton Complex, an entertainment venue near the Lake Charles airport.

Festival highlights include:

  • Six live bands, including award winning regional artists that play Cajun, zydeco, swamp pop and other genres
  • Arts and crafts by regional artists
  • Authentic Cajun cuisine
  • Children’s events, such as cakewalks
