Downtown Lakefront Activities in Abundance

View All Parks & Rec

Centrally located in downtown Lake Charles, Bord Du Lac Park and the PPG Interactive Fountain provide activities for individuals and families in one convenient area.

Known locally as the Central Park of Lake Charles, Bord Du Lac Park borders the lake’s shoreline. The park promotes leisurely strolls and features several points of interest including Bilbo Cemetery — where the founding fathers of Lake Charles are buried — as well as a monument to veterans. The pathway through the park accommodates walkers, runners and rollerbladers and features numerous decks extending over the water with shaded pavilions for fishing or sightseeing. Duck, geese, egrets and herons add a natural element to the area.

A great destination for playing and cooling off on a hot day, the PPG Interactive Fountain was created from a model at Disney’s Epcot Center and Olympic Village in Atlanta. Featuring “chasing” waters and water jets reaching as high as 25 feet, the fountain provides enchanting recreation.

With a boat marina and large open space, this area hosts many of the city’s popular outdoor events and festivals.
