McNeese Cowboys Give Residents Reason to Cheer

With a robust athletic program, McNeese State University fields Division I NCAA teams that include men’s baseball, basketball, football, and track and field, as well as women’s basketball, softball, soccer and tennis. Support for McNeese Athletics is a long-standing tradition among Southwest Louisiana residents, especially in football. Loved by their avid fans, the Cowboys ranked No. 1 in the Southland Conference for attendance in 2012, 2013 and 2014. McNeese Athletics also holds the Southland Conference record for league titles won, making a second-round playoff appearance in 2013 to finish No. 9 in the country.

The McNeese women’s basketball Cowgirls advanced to national postseason tournaments 2011 through 2014, with the softball team winning the Southland Conference regular season championship in 2013 and 2014.

The games offer an exciting and entertaining experience for sports fans of all ages. For children 12-years-old and younger who join the McNeese Kids Club, attendance at a select home football game is free each year, as is admission to all soccer, tennis, volleyball, track and field, baseball and softball games.
