Rouge et Blanc Mixes Celebration with Education

Started in 2006 as a fundraising event for banners at McNeese State University — an organization dedicated to providing its community with cultural activities and performances — Rouge et Blanc (“Red and White”) is an organization dedicated to providing the community with cultural activities and performances, as well as enhancing the quality of life and promoting a vibrant image of the region. Eventually growing into a week-long social gathering celebrating food and wine, today Rouge et Blanc attracts visitors from across the state.

Throughout the event, visitors can attend dinners and seminars, where they learn about wine and food pairings, as well as different types of grapes and growing regions. The event’s Wine Down: Vino 101 seminar provides an overview of wine basics of related topics. A private club hosts guests for tastings and a premiere, local dining venue brings visitors in for a specialty dinner featuring a menu of various hors d’oeuvres and entrées paired with a selection of wines. Another seminar focuses exclusively on identifying the various flavors of wine.

Over the years, Rouge et Blanc has assembled a long list of supporters and participating restaurants, providing guests with a wide range of food selections that are all judged and awarded various honors upon conclusion of the festival.
