View All Higher Ed

The Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Pelican Chapter Training Center (ABC Training Center) offers nationally accredited construction education designed to prepare Southwest Louisiana residents for successful careers in building and contracting.

In the Gulf South, the construction industry has experienced phenomenal growth over the last decade. The ABC Training Center provides coursework approved by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and ensures its students enter the field trained and prepared. Through this accreditation, ABC Training Center students have an additional advantage as they seek jobs in the construction and petrochemical industries. In addition, completing ABC Training Center courses while working in the industry helps workers improve their skills, earn higher wages and chart a course for leveraging future advancement.

Classes include electrical, heavy equipment, instrumentation, millwright, pipefitting and welding. For maximum participation, courses are kept at an affordable rate and offered at times most convenient to working students. In addition, because of ABC Training Center’s value, employers are often willing to offset costs associated with employee enrollment. With supervisory-level courses, such as estimating, planning and scheduling, project supervision and certification as a Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) employers appreciate the long-term investment in their bottom line.
